On March 20, 2024, on the occasion of the Tripartite Social Summit, the European Federation of Education Employers co-signed a declaration together with SGI Europe, CER, HOSPEEM, PostEurop, and UITP on the role that providers of services of general interest (SGIs) and public services should play in the future of Europe after the elections of June 2024.
SGI enterprises have strong European roots, directly and indirectly serve the EU economy and its citizens and must be considered a pillar for the green future of the EU, as well as be provided with the right framework to grow and flourish. Indeed, accessible, high-quality, and affordable SGIs are indispensable to the lives of citizens and enterprises – supporting the EU autonomy by providing important services and managing critical infrastructures, contributing directly to the growth of the EU economy at the same time. Therefore, they should be acknowledged as drivers of innovation, uptakers of new products and services, and facilitators of transitions.
