On 25 June, EFEE’s General Assembly took place in the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels. All members of the assembly were welcomed by Mr. Jacek Krawczyk, President of the Employers Group of the EESC. He presented the priorities of the Employers Group (via a video) and underlined the important role general education plays in closing the skills gaps which will pose challenges for the European future. Furthermore, Koen Nomden from the European Commission (DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, Unit E.2 Skills and Qualifications) had been invited for a keynote speech on ‘the new Europass Agenda and the role of education employers’. He explained that the new Europass platforms will be launched in 2020; they aim to offer open, accessible, multi-lingual web-based tools that support documentation and communication of information on skills and qualifications and information to enhance the use of the web-based tools and support career management and lifelong learning choices.

After the presentations by external experts, the General Assembly continued with the discussion of EFEE internal issues, such as the implementation of the budget for 2019, the work programme of 2019, and the upcoming meetings.
