On 22 November, EFEE’s Executive Committee and General Assembly met in Brussels in the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). The Executive Committee discussed the financial management of EFEE and reflected on EFEE’s HR strategy. EFEE’s General Assembly’s main focus was to prepare and develop future priorities for EFEE’s work plan and the joint work programme for the European Sectoral Social Dialogue in Education (ESSDE). In order to get better insight in the recent developments and upcoming actions at EU level in the field of education and training, EFEE had invited Thomas Pritzkow (DG EAC, European Commission) to make a keynote speech on this topic. In his presentation he touched upon, among others, the Commission Communication on School development and excellent teaching for a great start in life, outcomes of the ET2020 working group on schools (such as the recent report on Teachers and school leaders in schools as learning organisations), and the envisaged enhanced cooperation between the ESSDE and ET2020 process. Furthermore, the General Assembly agreed to change EFEE’s membership fee system for new EFEE members, discussed the topics for EFEE’s work programme 2018, approved the signature of the Joint EFEE and ETUCE Statement on improving Vocational Education and Training in Europe, and was updated on recent EFEE activities and upcoming events.
