On 8-9 October 2020, EFEE participated in the OECD Education 2030 Global Forum on the Future of Education and Skills 2030, bringing together around 250 participants from 40 countries. During the event, key stakeholders, including students, teachers, social partners and members from civil societies, discussed the future role of teachers and teaching around the globe as well as reducing equity gaps through curriculum adaptations. In light of more hybrid models becoming the norm in many countries due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the changing role of the teacher and the teaching model as well as its influence on students, curriculum contents, assessment and evaluation were examined by the participants. Furthermore, the student-teacher relationship and the future of learning environments were explored from many different angles. It was concluded that revisioning and transforming education needs to be done in a future-oriented manner that takes into account the equity dimension in order to take full advantage of these new opportunities. Above all, it was stated that in order to empower all the stakeholders involved in these transitions, a change in mentality in all the actors around education is highly needed.
