SENSE. STEAM-DNA Workshop
15 November, 2022 - 17 November, 2022
From 15 to 18 November, the EFEE Secretariat will be participating in the kick-off workshop of the “SENSE. The New European Roadmap to STEAM Education” project, of which EFEE is a consortium member. This is the first time that partners, associate partners, advisory board members and invited guests will meet in person, hosted in Bergen, Norway, by the main project coordinator: the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL).
Some information about the project
SENSE “puts forward an art-integrative science education, grounded into a sensory and participatory approach to STEAM education. This approach embeds social inclusion and spatial inquiry at its core, by acknowledging students’ diversity and the role of spatial design shaping the ways in which they may approach and sense a problem, as well as how they find ways to address it in their own contexts. Inclusion and spatial design are thus core elements for a new paradigm for STEAM education”
This project has four main objectives: 1) To create the praxis-informed SENSE.STEAM Educational model and pedagogy; 2) To establish the requirements for practical implementation of the SENSE.STEAM Educational model across Europe; 3) To transform current STEAM educational practices by mainstreaming social inclusion and spatial design as cross-cutting issues and; 4) To consolidate and disseminate findings into a Roadmap for Science Education.
In order to achieve these goals, the SENSE team will organize 13 “STEAM Labs” across Europe throughout the three-year life-span of the project and deliver, by the end of it, a New European Roadmap to STEAM Education.
EFEE’s participation
In this first event, EFEE will provide examples of STEM and STEAM practices collected from its members’ network and provide insight and feedback on the needs of education employers with regard to the implementation of STEM and STEAM practices in the schools.
