The International Labour Organization (ILO) brings together governments, employers and workers to promote decent work, social dialogue and fair working conditions worldwide.
Its work is particularly relevant to education employers, as education systems face major workforce challenges linked to teacher shortages, changing skills needs, digitalisation, professional development and the future of work.
EFEE has been strengthening its engagement with the ILO, particularly through the Bureau for Employers’ Activities (ACT/EMP). This engagement helps ensure that the perspective of education employers is reflected in international discussions on employment, skills and working conditions.
EFEE has contributed to strategic exchanges such as the ILO’s Technical Meeting on the Future of Work in the Education Sector. The meeting addressed priorities including lifelong learning, skills development and the Decent Work Agenda in education.
The organisation is also exploring closer cooperation with the International Organisation of Employers and the Global Apprenticeship Network. These connections can support stronger employer participation in global debates on labour markets, vocational education, apprenticeships and skills development.
Through this engagement, the Education Employers International Partnership can help connect education policy with wider employment and workforce discussions, while promoting social dialogue and sustainable working conditions across education systems.
