On 19 September, EFEE General Secretary participated in the Public Hearing on Supporting teachers in the European Education Area 2025: The role of education trade unions in meeting teachers’ professional needs, organized jointly by ETUCE and Education International. The event presented the results of the two-years project carried out jointly with ETUCE and the University of Nottingham. The main outcomes indicated the need for identifying the actual education employers at the national level and stronger cooperation with the trade union side. General Secretary was also asked to contribute to this discussion in the final session. In his address, he underlined the need of stable and sustainable social dialogue as a mains means for discussion concerning the professional development of teachers. He stressed that it is possible to establish an extended agenda of discussion at the national level that not necessarily focuses exclusively on salary levels, but can also discuss the working conditions, continuous professional development. Xander Bogaerts Authentic Jersey
