On 26 June 2026, EFEE took part in the European Commission’s Social Partners’ Hearing on the upcoming EU Teachers and Trainers Agenda, bringing the perspective of education employers into the discussion on the future of the teaching profession in Europe.
Following the hearing, EFEE published its position paper welcoming the initiative and calling for a coherent approach to the recruitment, development and retention of teachers and trainers. EFEE highlights the need for attractive career pathways, strong induction and mentoring, professional development, supportive leadership, improved working conditions, social dialogue, and dedicated attention to vocational education and training (VET).
EFEE underlines that investing in teachers and trainers must go hand in hand with strengthening the institutions and professional environments that support them.
