On 10 July 2026, UNESCO convened the Transforming Education Summit +4: System Transformation and Resilience for SDG 4 at its headquarters in Paris.
The event brought together governments, international organisations, education stakeholders and young people to assess progress made since the 2022 Transforming Education Summit. More than 140 countries had made national commitments following that Summit, covering priorities such as recovering learning losses, addressing inequalities, strengthening the teaching profession, closing financing gaps and reimagining education systems.
TES+4 placed particular emphasis on moving from commitments to implementation and accountability. Discussions explored how education systems can become more inclusive, resilient and capable of responding to current and future challenges while accelerating progress towards SDG 4.
The event also contributed to the wider debate on education beyond 2030 by gathering perspectives from around the world and ensuring that young people’s views are included in the identification of future priorities.
Bringing the education employers’ perspective to the discussion
EFEE participated in TES+4, contributing the perspective of education employers to the international exchange on the transformation and future of education.
Its participation reflected the importance of involving employers, teachers, school leaders, policymakers, learners and other stakeholders in shaping reforms that are both ambitious and possible to implement. Sustainable transformation requires not only political commitments, but also investment in the education workforce, strong leadership, social dialogue, institutional capacity and meaningful cooperation across all levels of education.
Through its engagement with UNESCO and the wider United Nations community, EFEE continues to support international collaboration and advocate for education employers to be included in discussions on SDG 4 and the global education agenda beyond 2030.
